Chad Farran has made a name for himself in the San Diego music scene by playing hundreds of shows with many local bands throughout the region, producing music for TV shows and independent films, recording studio and live CDs for San Diego musicians, and is one of the founders and current drummer of San Diego’s infamous rock trio Superunloader. Over the past 2 years, Chad has been involved in the production of music for the popular surf/travel show On Surfari that airs on FOX network’s Fuel TV. Chad has managed to capture the essence of the foreign countries the show travels to by studying the traditions and instruments from each place, incorporating them into musical pieces, and creating a contemporary and refreshing sound. Chad's talents have also taken him well beyond the rock and roll drumming he is so well known for in the group Superunloader, and his newest solo CD release is a prime example. On Another Ride, Chad becomes both producer and musician by writing and performing nearly all the music on his new disc. His interest in Brazilian culture makes an impressive influence on his songs, as he weaves stories of love and love lost with the rhythms that enchanted him on his travels throughout that country. The Brazilian styles of Samba, Bossa Nova, Reggae, Forro, and Maracatu can all be heard in his songs, as he showcases his talents on the instruments he collected and brought back. The songs on this CD take a more personal approach than past recordings, and the worldly acoustic sounds provide an ear catching moving sensation.Chad now begins the task of opening the minds of the music lover and enticing them with the infectious rhythms and melodies he has captured so well on his debut CD. In the 90’s Chad and his band mates formed the independent label Superunloader reCorDs to release their own recordings. Thus far the label has recorded, produced, and released 8 album projects.
